What is a redeploy event in Azure?
Applies to
- Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
- Microsoft Azure
- Redeploy Event
Answer
When a VM is redeployed from Azure, it moves the VM to a new node within the Azure infrastructure and then powers it back on.
All of the VMs configuration options and associated resources are retained.
Redeploy of a Azure VM can be done
- Manually using Azure Portal or CLI to troubleshoot an issue with backend
- Azure Maintenance Events of type redeploy which user has no control of occurrence, if VMs are on non-dedicated hosts.
NOTE:
- ONTAP handles only type "Freeze" Azure Maintenance event and does not handle types "reboot" and "redeploy" as it can be from user action as well.
- ONTAP polls the Azure Metadata service to get notified about Freeze Azure Maintenace Events.
