Answer

  • MetroCluster IP (4 node and 8 node) supports automatic failover as long as we have deployed Ontap Mediator
  • ONTAP Mediator is required for automatic site failover: 
    • MetroCluster IP does not support classic AUSO.
    • Automatic site failover is provided only via Mediator Assisted Automatic Unplanned Switchover (MAUSO).
    • If the ONTAP Mediator is not deployed or not reachable, manual intervention is required, even in the event of a complete site failure.
