Why does OnCommand Insight show more Brocade ports than my switch has?

Answer

  • Brocade switches can have Node Virtuial (NPIV) ports where a physical port can be shared by multiple virtual ID's. 
  • These ports are counted towards the used switch ports, so your 128 port switch may show that more than 128 ports are being used. 

  • If you run a switchshow on the switch you can see these ports and the number of virtual ports being used.
