How do I find out when/why a Cloud Volumes ONTAP instance was shutdown?

Answer

  • If the VM was powered down via Cloud Manager, it should be visible on the timeline under the "All Services" drop down menu in Cloud Manager
  • If the VM was powered down (or terminated/deleted) from the hypervisor portal, there will be no evidence or logging via Cloud Manager 
  • Further review of hypervisor logs may offer additional insight
