Attempt to move  IP to eni because AWS prevents IP moves outside of the ENI's subnet

Last Updated:

Applies to

  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP(CVO)
  • Amazon Web Servies (AWS)
  • High Availability (HA)
  • Single and Multi-Availability Zones (AZs )
  • Floating IPs (only in Multi-AZ)
  • CVO Deployment, LIF migrate, LIF delete
  • AWS Elastic Network Interface (ENI)
  • ONTAP 9.10.x
  • ONTAP 9.9.x

During Deployment of AWS CVO HA or during LIF create or LIF delete from Cloud Manager, the task fails in Cloud Manager UI timeline even if all configuration pre-requisites are met for example like permissions to update route tables present in IAM policy or subnet in CIDR range outside the subnet range of nodes for floating IPs and unique across VPCs or route table being updated with unique IPs.
Cloud Manager UI Timeline or server.log:
Attempt to move IP 10.x.x.x to eni-0436d3fxxxba42d8d failed because AWS prevents IP moves outside of the ENI's subnet. If the problem persists, contact technical support.
