Issue

SMB access failures with out-of-sync machine account password errors can be seen when a user without the "Reset password" privilege on the machine account is used for the following operations.

  • cifs domain password reset
  • cifs security modify -is-aes-encryption-enabled true
  • cifs security modify -advertised-enc-types aes-128,aes-256
