Answer

The new *.LOD.FVF files are firmware verification files.

X310_SMOOST50SSM.NA02.LOD
X310_SMOOST50SSM.NA02.LOD.FVF

These files, in addition to .LOD and .CTL files are located in the following path:

/etc/disk_fw

A new feature has been added in Data ONTAP to verify the disk or shelf firmware using a standardized method, which depends on the generation of check files (FVF file extension). These check files are made available as part of Data ONTAP, along with the driver .LOD files.

Note: The *.LOD.FVF files are optional and may or may not be included when obtaining drive firmware from NSS; if they are not present, then individual devices still check the firmware for integrity, although in a device-specific manner.
