Answer

Fully visible CIFS share is automatically created on a volume with file permissions 'Everyone/Full Control'

To create a volume without immediately sharing it and pick an appropriate share name (instead of the volume name), follow these steps:

  1. Click Storage > Shares > Edit > Find Everyone group
  2. Select Access Permission dropdown
  3. Change to No Access

Additional Information

Can i set the default to allow only domain admins when the cifs share is created?

No, this can only be edited after creation.
