Answer

  • Ontap 9.6 first introduced a new read-only version of the New Experience.
  • Ontap 9.7 offered both Classic and the New Experience with the ability to view and update configurations in Ontap.
  • With Ontap 9.8 the New Experience is the only available UI.

The System Manager New Experience is based on REST APIs first introduced in Ontap 9.6 for ease of automation. The new UI was designed to simplify workflows for managing and maintaining storage. As the layout and method for retrieving the information has changed, the appearance or information displayed may be different than the Classic Experience.

  • If there is a feature that you would like added to the new UI, please contact Netapp Support and a Request for Feature Enhancement(RFE) can be opened.
