Is it possible to allow share name to be input manually at the time of volume creation?

Answer

  • Several organizations have their own standard practices for naming their objects.
  • It is the way they organize and understand which applications, projects and data resides where.
  • They use items like location, business unit, or application.
  • If users want the share to be hidden, add a $.
  • System Manager does not allow you to modify the share name during the creation of the volume.

Workaround:

cifs share modify

Note: Name cannot be changed, delete the share name and recreate it with the correct name
