Why is the creation of cifs local user not enabled in ONTAP System Manager in CIFS workgroup mode?

Answer

ONTAP System Manager cannot manage CIFS workgroup because the REST API used to manage CIFS server supports only AD mode.

The creation of a CIFS local user assumes that the CIFS server is running, but this information cannot be obtained if the CIFS server is in workgroup, so it is not enabled.

Note: STORAGE > Storage VMs > [SVM] > Settings > Host users and groups > Windows displays Configure SMB/CIFS to create Windows users and groups.　when CIFS server is in workgroup
