No, selecting Send Authentication Failure Trap in Setting > ALERTS > SNMP > Add Trap Destination does not have E-Series run periodical check of the authentication failure. 
Selecting this enables E-Series system to send trap whenever it receives an SNMP request with unrecognized community name or user name.
