E-Series Controller is in Analysis Lockdown Mode due to excessive Data Assurance errors - AutoSupport Message
Applies to
- NetApp E-Series
- NetApp StorageGRID Appliances
Event Summary
- E-Series controller has entered a lock down state because it detected an excessive number of Data Assurance (DA) errors. The controller lock down aims to prevent further data corruption.
- DA feature implements the T10 Protection Information (PI) standard, ensuring data integrity by detecting and correcting errors during data transfer along the I/O path. It adds cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs) to each data block in DA-enabled volumes, verifying data integrity during transmission and preventing corrupted data from being written to disk or returned to the host.
Validate
When logging into SANtricity System Manager, the login page is unavailable. Instead, a warning is displayed indicating the controller is in "Data Assurance Analysis Lockdown".
Resolution
A full system diagnostics is necessary to determine the underlying cause of DA errors. Recovery steps may include hardware replacements and software upgrades.
