SnapCenter SQL Backup Failed in an always on cluster configuration

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for SQL (SCSQL)
  • SQL Master DB backups inside same job as user DB

  • Issue

After a SQL Server failover the following message is seen inside the jobs in the SnapCenter GUI:

Activity 'Get Backup Metadata' failed with error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Activity 'Begin Transaction Log backup' failed with error: The operation has timed out

When moving the owner back to the previous node the error is not seen any more
