Upgrade of AWS CVO from 9.5 to 9.6 from Cloud Manager fails with boot logs showing para virtualized network interfaces

  • XEN based AWS instances (R4 instance types)
  • Single root Input Output Virtualization (SR-IOV)
  • Elastic Network Adapter (ENA)


Upgrade of AWS CVO from 9.4 or 9.5 to >=9.6 from Cloud Manager fails with boot logs showing presence of para virtualized network interfaces , the support of which stopped in ONTAP 9.6


xn - shows para virtualized network devices which is not supported from ONTAP 9.6 onwards and CVO fails to boot.
